    writer Robert

I first tried writing a book when I was 14, just to have the experience. It was an introduction to astronomy, the only topic I knew a lot about at the time. I completed eight hand-lettered and illustrated pages before realizing that I was in over my head. Twenty years passed before I actually wrote an entire book and got it published. That book, DOS, WordPerfect & Lotus Office Companion, was a best-selling title for five years and changed the way computer books were written. Since then, I’ve branched out and have authored more than 40 books in a variety of genres, including fiction, humor, self improvement, word play, and theology.

Some of my most popular titles are shown below (click any cover to see more details). All are available at amazon.com. For a complete list of my books, visit my Author page. And you can see an exhibit of some of my favorite book covers here.

A fun guide that turns conventional wisdom upside down, showing readers how to use the exciting principle of Selective Inaction to get more out of life—simply by doing less.

101 cover   The Jesus Perspective cover

A thought-provoking evaluation of scripture, incarnation, atonement, trinity, and resurrection, revealing the dynamic and practical faith of Jesus, not the faith about Jesus. (I discuss the book on the "Strategies for Living" radio program.)

Weary of painting haystacks and cathedrals and icky pond vegetation, the artist finally pursues his true passion: criminal investigation. His first case: a baffling art heist at Galerie Neuf in Paris.

Monet 1 cover   Good People cover

A 12-step program that helps people recover from malescribism, an uncontrollable urge to write carelessly and unpersuasively, with little regard for the needs of the reader.

A collection of simple but powerful techniques that can help anyone use memory more effectively to recall people, facts, numbers, and other types of information.

6 Keys to Improving Memory cover   Mobius cover

A thriller in which an American art professor in Munich tries to solve a mystery involving three stolen paintings and a subsequent murder—just days before the U.S. president is to visit.

A whirlwind tour of the cosmos in which I team up a quirky professor and a laid-back guidance computer to visit planets, stars, and galaxies in the amazing WAFAST spacecraft.

6 Keys to Improving Memory cover   The Jesus Perspective cover

unique wordplay book that treats names as acronymns that tell all about the name (for example, Science: Systematic, coordinated investigations elucidating nature’s causal events).
